Holistic

I am a qualified Beauty and Holistic therapist and have been now for over 9 years, I want to use this page to teach you how to treat yourself at home and remove stress on a budget.

Holistic therapies have been used f or years to allow us to relax, pamper and keep ourselves young and beautiful. I will focus on relaxing as stress has the ability to affect us mentally and physically.

However if you have any other questions in this department feel free to email me and I will reply.

  • REFLEXOLOGY

This treatment consists of working on the feet using a deep massage technique. The Idea is that every organ of the body has a point of representation on the feet and by stimulating that point, you will encourage blood flow to that organ and boost its health. It is possible now to buy socks with a map of the reflex points on, and you can buy wooden foot rollers from the body shop which enables you to work on your own feet with ease.

I have found a free software on the internet which teaches you what to do. Download from:

    www.mysticboard.com/mb-free-reflexology-chart

They rely on donations to keep the software running so if you can spare a few quid, It is well worth the money.

  • AROMATHERAPY

Plant oils have been known to be beneficial for health for many thousands of years. Here is a list of some of the main oils out there and what they can do for you. If you are pregnant or have medical problems speak to your GP before dabbling. If you get the all clear buy yourself a nice book about aromatherapy that you can refer to for use, There are so many oils and uses it is impossible for me to list them all. Its best to start off with external application, put a couple of drops into a bath or into your body lotion and see how you react to them.

  • HEAT

If your muscles are sore at the end of the day, Try using heat to soothe them. Wheat bags or hot water bottles applied to the area will stimulate the circulation and relax stressed out muscles. If you go to the Fibro and pain section in the pain plan there is a link to a site in which you can make your own soothing wheat bag, Otherwise they are usually less than £5 and can be used many times over.

For the feet invest in a foot spa they are not expensive and all you need is hot water and a nice bubble bath and you feet will thank you.

Suffer from period pain or lower back pain constantly Boots, Superdrug and other pharmacist sell heat pads, they heat up with the oxygen in the air you can stick them onto the area needed and a gentle consistant heat will soothe for up to 8 hours

  • BATH

There is nothing as soothing as a nice warm bubble bath, Radox muscle salts are great for general aches and pains or add a few drops of aromatherapy oils (see above), You can also buy some wonderful bath bombs which dissolve in the water. Lush do wonderful bath products if you have one near you live, or try this bath "recipe" which a friend forwarded to me.
